What is mount sparrowhawk?

Mount Sparrowhawk is a prominent peak located in the Kananaskis Range of the Canadian Rockies, in Alberta, Canada. It stands at an elevation of 3,272 meters (10,735 feet) and is one of the most popular hiking destinations in the region. The mountain is named after the sparrowhawk, a bird of prey that is commonly found in the area.

The trailhead for Mount Sparrowhawk is located at the popular Spray Lakes Reservoir, about an hour's drive from Calgary. The hike is approximately 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) round-trip and takes around 6-8 hours to complete, depending on the level of experience and physical fitness of the hiker. The trail is rated as moderate to difficult, with steep and rocky sections, and requires some scrambling near the summit.

From the summit of Mount Sparrowhawk, hikers are rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, including Mount Lougheed, Mount Glasgow, and Mount French.
